The 14/16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini M3 would wait until 2024

Apple will renew its 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, as well as the Mac mini with M3 chips, but we would have to wait until 2024 to discover them according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

Gurman explains that development of the Mac mini M3 is ongoing, but Apple is not yet at an advanced stage. It must be understood by this that Apple will continue to prepare the desktop computer for a few months, even a few quarters. According to the journalist, the machine will not arrive before the end of 2024.

This is an opportunity to see that the Mac mini M2 saw the light of day more than two years after the M1 version, which suggests that Apple does not consider this machine as a device requiring annual upgrades. Conversely, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, a more popular Mac, gets refreshed every four or five quarters.

As for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, they will be entitled to the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, but we would have to wait until mid-2024 at the earliest to discover them.

Last week, Gurman reported that the first Macs with the M3 chip should arrive in October 2023. He talked about the iMac, the 13-inch MacBook Air, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The advantage of the M3 chip is its 5 nm engraving. In comparison, the M2 chip has an engraving in 5 nm. The choice of 3 nm will in particular make it possible to improve performance, while offering better autonomy.
