With the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi has two devices in its range that hardly differ in terms of their names. But in technical terms there are clear distinctions between the two models. In our comparison, we will determine which of the two Mi models is right for you.
When it comes to clear and simple naming, Xiaomi still has some catching up to do. Not only are there several different smartphones that have appeared as Redmi Note 9 Pro, but the Chinese manufacturer is also a bit opaque for the flagships of the Mi series.

The Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro are very similar in many respects, but the T-model is not a simple upgrade or downgrade. This is what the hardware looks like in detail:

Display: liquid vs. strong color
At 6.67 inches, the screens of the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro have exactly the same dimensions. The immediately visible difference, however, are the display edges, which are slightly rounded on the Mi 10 Pro. As a result, the rather large device nestles better in the hand, but there are also users who cannot do anything with curved edges. But for these there is the Mi 10T Pro, which offers a flat glass front. Both screens are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
There are significant differences between the two models when it comes to the panels under the glass. The Mi 10 Pro uses an AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels. This means that the older flagship has the edge in terms of color rendering and contrast. Because only one LCD is used in the Mi 10T Pro. But it offers a refresh rate of up to 144 Hertz, in contrast to the 90 Hertz on the Mi 10 Pro. This means that content is displayed very smoothly, which is particularly noticeable in gaming and when scrolling through social media.
Performance stalemate
In terms of performance, there are no differences between the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro. Both use Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 865 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. Neither device breaks a sweat when multi-tasking or playing demanding games. The Mi 10 Pro has the slightly smaller battery with 4500 mAh, while Xiaomi was a bit more generous with the Mi 10T Pro with 5000 mAh. Due to the higher frame rate, the runtime of both devices will be roughly on the same level.
You should be careful with both cell phones when it comes to the internal memory, because unfortunately none of the models offers the option of expansion via microSD card. The Mi 10T Pro is available in versions with either 128 or 256 GB of internal memory, while the Mi 10 Pro is only available with 256 GB of memory. Note that the high-resolution 108 MP photos can easily reach a file size of 25 MB, so storage space could run out faster than usual.
Which 108 MP camera will take the trick?
The main lens of the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro are identical. Both devices use Samsung HMX image sensor, which enables a resolution of up to 108 megapixels. Optical image stabilization enables blur-free recordings, so more light can be captured, which significantly improves the performance of the night mode. The Mi 10T Pro has to admit defeat to its older brother when it comes to the rest of the camera.
The ultra-wide-angle camera of the Mi 10 Pro has a higher resolution of 20 MP than that of the Mi 10T Pro, but offers a slightly narrower field of view at 117 degrees. In the zoom area, the Mi 10T Pro is defeated without a fight, because there is simply no telephoto lens installed here. The Mi 10 Pro comes with the zoom in a double pack. In addition to the 12 MP portrait lens with 2x zoom, Xiaomi has a hybrid zoom with up to ten times magnification up its sleeve.
If necessary, you can also work with the Mi 10T Pro in full resolution with digital zoom, but of course image information is lost. This model has a macro camera that allows interesting insights, but is nowhere near as useful as telephoto optics. Particularly ambitious mobile phone photographers should therefore use the Mi 10 Pro. But a lot is also possible with the T-model, as our photo tour showed.
Significant price difference
On paper, there are a lot of similarities between Xiaomi’s two flagships, but when it comes to price, the gap between the two devices is significantly larger. The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is much newer and currently costs just under 500 euros (as of December 2020).
For the Mi 10 Pro you dig much deeper into your pocket, because over 900 euros are due for the flagship. However, there are significant fluctuations here and the cell phone was already available for 760 euros, so we recommend a price comparison and patience.
Conclusion: set priorities
If you decide between the Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10 Pro, then you will definitely get really good performance. The two devices don’t take anything away from each other in terms of size, which is why you should know your needs exactly when choosing.
The Mi 10 Pro’s camera is one of the best you can expect from an Android smartphone in this area. So if you want to seriously deal with photography apart from vacation photos, then this device is clearly the better choice. The Mi 10T Pro is also more than sufficient for snapshots, selfies and family photos.
When it comes to the display, things are not that clear. An AMOLED display brings strong black levels, high color accuracy and a lot of contrast, which means it always cuts a good figure. An LCD simply cannot keep up here. But to compensate for this, the Mi 10T Pro has a refresh rate of 144 Hertz, which is a big plus for gamers.
Last but not least, the price naturally also plays a role, especially since there are several hundred euros between the two devices. If a good price-performance ratio is important to you, then there is actually no way around the Mi 10T Pro.
Unfortunately, the current very high price makes the Mi 10 Pro a very difficult recommendation. Better cameras, AMOLED and at least 90 Hertz make the device a better mobile phone in our opinion, but not everyone has almost 1000 euros left for a smartphone. But should the price recover, the additional costs compared to the Mi 10T Pro are quite justified. In the end, of course, you have to decide for yourself which smartphone suits you.
