Happy New Year! 2023 has arrived. We can’t go back to 2022: we’re going to do it now with 2023. The Chinese year of the rabbit. Well okay, let’s have a little look back to 2022.

From 2022 to 2023

In 2020 and 2021 we were still full of the corona pandemic, but in 2022 we came out of that a little bit. We were able to travel again, the face masks were no longer necessary at a certain point and that took some getting used to. It is still wise to wash your hands regularly and especially not to sneeze around, so we prefer to keep those two ‘measures’ in, especially at the end of 2022, when many people are struggling with the flu, a severe cold or – yes definitely – corona.

As Androidworld, we could see the world opening up a bit again in 2022. We went to London to hear more about OnePlus’ plans and its operating system, a city we visited earlier this year, namely for Samsung’s new foldable phone. In addition, we went to Milan to see what the new Motorola phones entailed and we looked at what Huawei announced at IFA in Berlin. In keeping with tradition, we ended the year with our famous advent calendar, in which Dimitry again did his utmost to come up with fun prizes and questions.

Where we said goodbye to a colleague in 2021, the team remained strong in 2022 with Claudia, Sebastien, Jelle and Laura. But we don’t do it alone: ​​we received one top tip after another from readers. Updates, questions: anything and everything passed by. We have benefited a lot from that, thank you!

The best of 2022

While Dim played Santa in December, the rest reflected on his favorites and less favorites of the year. We looked at which budget smartphones we liked best, which midrange devices you should definitely consider and which showpieces of flagships have sailed by in 2022. Editors also have their personal favorites and they were also shared, namely in the Editor’s Choice article. Prefer a wearable? There were also plenty of them in 2022: these are our favorite smartwatches of the year. In addition, we have to conclude that there were also many disappointments in 2022. Not only the energy prices and the extremely bad way in which people and countries treat each other: quite a few bumpy roads were also taken in the tech world.
