Tesla can only swallow dust
E-cars are real performance monsters anyway. But a British hypercar is providing particularly stark evidence. The McMurtry Spéirling smashes an already extreme record with its absurd acceleration – and could become the world record holder. Tesla and Co. can’t even begin to keep up.
No chance for Rimac: McMurtry’s e-car beats all the others
The only thing missing is official recognition, then there is a new acceleration king in the car world: The electric super sports car McMurtry Spéirling not only surpassed the previous record of the Croatian Rimac Nevera in a test drive by colleagues from Carwow, but completely pulverized it: The British hypercar sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.4 seconds.
The previously set 1.8 seconds for a car from series production at the Rimac Nevera are passé. The Croatians will be able to get over it, they still have the absolute record for the top speed of 412 km/h. The McMurtry, on the other hand, not only achieves a top value in the sprint to 100 km/h. Also the Quarter mile is 7.97 seconds covered in no time. Rimac is still the official record holder with 8.53 seconds (source: car wow).
This is made possible by the extremely compact construction of the McMurtry, the streamlined design – but above all a special feature: the Spéirling model is extreme with two equipped with powerful blowers, each capable of 23,000 revolutions per minute. They suck out the air from under the vehicle and press the super sports car down with an additional force of around 2,000 kg. This helps to put the power of the two electric motors on the road.

Whether McMurtry will claim the official acceleration record is still open. A special configuration was used for the test that does not correspond to the standard offered. According to the manufacturer, one wants to draw some important lessons from the success.
