Telekom cancels monthly data gift – no more free data volume?

Telekom has rewarded loyal customers with free data volume every month. Suddenly the campaign ended – without any major announcement. The gift of data wasn’t particularly great, but it was indispensable for some customers. But that’s not the only limitation.

Telekom: Free data volume is history

For a long time, Telekom has been giving its customers a data gift every month. Up until now, you could use the MeinMagenta app to pick up 500 MB at the beginning of each month and thus increase the included data volume free of charge. This is over now (source: Tariff). The Punkt has completely disappeared from the MeinMagenta app. If you wanted to pick up your 500 MB in July, you won’t find anything in the app. The campaign ended without any major announcement. GIGA has asked Telekom for a statement. As soon as we get a response, we will update the article.

The gift of data is not the only change that Deutsche Telekom customers are facing. The Connect app, which always chooses the best and safest internet connection, will be discontinued soon (Source: iPhone ticker). In particular, the VPN function, which ensures a secure connection at the WLAN hotspot, will be missing. The MeinMagenta app should serve as an alternative. But you won’t find the full range of functions there.
