Telegram Premium is official: more features for a fee

Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, says on his own channel that Telegram Premium offers several extras. This includes extra large stickers, sending even larger files and being free of ads. Advertising can still be found in Telegram to a very limited extent. The question is whether Telegram will introduce wider advertising, it seems that is not on the schedule for now.

Durov says that Telegram Premium will be a subscription model, but does not mention a price. In an earlier leak was quoted as being $4.99 per month. The following new features emerged from that leak; animated profile pictures, an upload size of 4GB (instead of 2GB), no ads, faster download speeds, unique reactions, premium stickers, profile badges and several other improvements.

The maker of Telegram repeatedly emphasizes that all existing functions will remain available for free in Telegram. Not all future features will disappear behind the paywall. It is not known when the service will be available, but it will probably not be long in the future. According to Durov, he prefers to be paid by users rather than advertisers. With the income he wants to pay the costs for data traffic and hosting, which he says are now unmanageable due to the many possibilities of Telegram.
