Technologies help protect the environment

Representatives of leading players in the ICT sector, universities, the scientific community and government institutions met in Vienna last week for a conference during European Innovation Day 2021. The conference was mainly dedicated to innovative projects that the company helps in Austria Huawei.

Technology and AI will help protect the environment

The company has supported a number of projects that can mitigate the negative effects of the ICT sector on the environment. An example is the TECH4ALL initiative. It brings together the non-governmental organization Rainforest Connection (RFCx), which protects biodiversity in the Amazon, with organizations in Greece, which use older phones and artificial intelligence to protect endangered chamois in the Aoos gorge from poachers.

As part of the initiative, the launch of the new Tech4All Guardian project, which aims to research in the Seewinkel National Park, on Lake Neusiedl, was presented. The project will use Huawei’s intelligent software systems to investigate the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and develop new environmental measures based on this data.

5G drones will help in construction, hospitals and agriculture

Another interesting project presented is the use of robots connected to 5G in Vienna hospitals. They will also help build Europe’s first fully digitized railway junction in Hungary.

Huawei also wants to support the education of young people and has introduced a new scholarship program Seeds for the Future Scholarship. Through this scholarship alone, Huawei has pledged to invest € 2.5 million in educating students in Europe and upgrading their skills in the ICT sector.
