T-Mobile will start switching off the 3G signal in Moravia in a few days

The announced and long-prepared moment is here. The Czech operator T-Mobile will start on October 1, 2021 turning off some of your 3G transmitters. The process of terminating the operation of a 12-year-old connection, which is to replace modern 5G connectivity, will begin in unspecified areas in Moravia. Disabling 3G networks is necessary for release frequency 2,100 MHzwhich will further strengthen the development and diffusion of the latest network technology. If you do not belong to a very narrow group of customers, disconnecting has virtually no way to touch you.

“The termination of the entire 3G network will only affect the minimum number of T-Mobile customers (less than 1%), as the vast majority of currently used mobile phones use LTE (4G) technology for data transmissions and newly sold smartphones are increasingly supporting 5G networks. The oldest phones without a connection to the mobile Internet will continue to use the 2G network, which remains for voice calls and SMS messages in full operation and its coverage is significantly wider than the coverage of the 3G network, ”assures the operator.

The 3rd generation (3G) mobile network, using UMTS technology, was launched by the Czech T-Mobile in 2009. At present, it is already an outdated and far obsolete form of connectivity. If you are not quite sure whether you are ready to turn off the 3G network, you can check it on a special page. However, T-Mobile has reportedly informed private and corporate customers who may be affected by the termination of network operation via SMS or e-mail.
