Studio Display: Apple offers beta firmware 16.4

Apple is thinking about its Studio Display by offering a beta of firmware 16.4. It arrives the same week as the beta of iOS 16.4 on iPhone and iPad, macOS 13.3 on Mac, watchOS 9.4 on Apple Watch and tvOS 16.4 on Apple TV.

There is currently no specific information regarding the changes to be found with the Studio Display firmware 16.4. Indeed, Apple does not provide any notes and the owners of the screen did not notice any particular differences after installation. The update still weighs just over 640 MB.

Installing firmware 16.4 for the Studio Display requires a Mac with macOS 13.3 beta. If so, you can open System Settings, go to the General tab and then Software Update. The new version will appear. You can then start the download and proceed with the installation. This takes about 10 minutes. Also, this is the first 16.x firmware. The previous one was version 15.5.

For your information, this is the third software update for Apple’s 5K monitor. The former mainly fixed problems with the webcam and the speakers. Many criticisms had emerged concerning these elements.

The Studio Display starts at €1,999 at Apple, but Amazon offers it from €1,809.
