Lidl is known and loved for its low prices. The discounter is currently offering an iPhone 12 with a whopping 10 percent discount. But the offer has its pitfalls.

“Lidl is worth it” – this is the slogan used by Aldi’s big competitor to advertise on TV and radio, among other things. In fact, the discounter’s prices are often impressive, especially in these times of rampant inflation. However, this is not the case with the iPhone 12, which Lidl has recently been offering.

Lidl sells iPhone 12 for 719 euros

The discounter sells the iPhone 12 for 719 euros (view at Lidl). The model is offered in black color and with 64 GB of storage space. According to Lidl, there is a 10 percent discount, the iPhone 12 normally costs 799 euros with this equipment. So a great deal, right? Not quite. There are three reasons against it:

  • The discount refers to the RRP, but in free trade, the iPhone 12 has already fallen significantly in price. At Amazon, for example, the cult cell phone is available for 668 euros (view at Amazon) – and thus around 50 euros cheaper than at Lidl.
  • The launch of the iPhone 14 is expected in about a month. Experience has shown that this ensures Pricing pressure on older iPhones. The iPhone 13 should become cheaper after the launch of the new generation and this in turn should lead to cheaper prices for the iPhone 12.
  • Anyway we would recommend the iPhone 13. It has the newer processor, a noticeably longer battery life and already offers 128 GB of storage space in the entry-level version. The iPhone 13, for example, is currently available for 829 euros without a contract (see Klarmobil).

This is how the iPhone 13 models differ from each other:

These iPhones get iOS 16

Both the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 will receive the update to iOS 16 in the fall, which will include a completely revised lock screen with widgets. But many iPhone users go away empty-handed. A list of compatible iPhones can be found here: Which iPhones will get iOS 16?
