Starlink: American and Canadian subscribers will have their speed limited beyond 1 TB of data in the month
L’ “unlimited not really unlimited”, star link also knows the song. The company ofElon Musk has just modified its EULAs, and the user does not come out a winner. From now on, the speed will be limited for users who go beyond 1 TB of data downloaded monthly via Starlink. In detail, these users who consume large amounts of data will no longer have “priority access” once they exceed 1 TB of data in the month and will switch to “basic access”, i.e. access with speeds below 120 MB/s provided by Starlink. In Starlink jargon, these greedy users will be “deprioritized”. On the other hand, speeds during off-peak hours, i.e. between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., will not be taken into account in the calculation of the TB of monthly data.
To this tightening of screws is added the fact that Starlink has lowered its speeds for all of its subscribers. The network analysis company Ookla has indeed realized that Starlink had markedly decreased speeds in most countries where the service is available.
