Star Wars legend says goodbye to Rolle – fans don’t believe him
Some characters from the “Star Wars” universe have been on the big screen since the first parts. But a Star Wars legend recently said goodbye.
Actor Mark Hamill, who has always played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, no longer sees a need to continue his role. Thanks to modern technology, it would not be a problem at all to let him appear again as a younger Luke for the big screen. But Mark Hamill wants his role in upcoming parts of “star Wars“ no longer occupy: “I just see no reason for it.”

Mark Hamill says goodbye
Luke Skywalker’s days are numbered. At the very least, fans of the popular franchise won’t be able to see actor Mark Hamill, known for that role, in future installments of Star Wars. Like the now 71-year-old star in an interview CBS News explained that his film role was now superfluous.
“Well, you never say never, but I just don’t see a reason for it‘ Hamill argued against recasting his role in Star Wars. After all, there are many stories to tell for which Luke Skywalker is no longer necessary. “I’ve had my time, and that’s a good thing. But that’s enough‘ he let his fans know. However, fans expressed skepticism on social media. This is how some Reddit users notice under one Contribution to Mark Hamill’s statement assume that they would believe that he might still be able to change his mind about the corresponding fee. Only the future will tell if this assumption is true.
What happened so far: The role of Luke Skywalker
In the original “star Wars“trilogy, which began with Episode 4 in 1977, Mark Hamill slipped into the role of the young Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. Next to him were other icons such as Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) on camera. After not appearing in episodes 1 through 3 released between 1999 and 2005, Hamill returned at the end of the seventh episode “The Force Awakens‘ returned to the big screen in 2015.
While he reappeared as a key character as Luke Skywalker in Episode 8 “The Last Jedi”, despite his death at the end of the film, he also appeared again as a spirit of power in the subsequent part “The Rise of Skywalker”. Likewise, Hamill was able to reprise the role of a younger Luke in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett thanks to visual effects.
His age is not an obstacle
Although it is quite possible to rejuvenate its appearance through modern computer technology for future releases of the Star Wars saga, as it was for the fifth installment in the Indiana Jones series starring Harrison Ford was handled. For Hamill, however, that doesn’t seem like an option. After all, in his view, there would be no need to tell more stories about Luke, “but if they do, they might take an age-appropriate actor.”
