The number of paying customers of music service Spotify increased by 14 percent in the second quarter of 2022. The music service now has 188 million paying listeners, compared to 165 million last quarter. In total, Spotify has 433 million monthly active users, which is an increase of 19 percent. The growth has exceeded expectations, according to the originally Swedish music service. According to Spotify, the increase is partly due to the use of marketing campaigns.

The music service also announced that it will stop Spotify Car Thing. This gadget was only available in the United States and made it easier to use the service in the car. The accessory manufacturing process has been halted due to material supply issues and lack of demand for the Car Thing. Spotify does indicate that it has learned a lot from the product, and that the car, the place where many people listen to music, remains an important place that Spotify will also focus on.
