Sony is preparing to release new over-ear headphones with ANC. Now the first pictures of the WH-1000XM5 have appeared, which suggest good things. The design is even lighter and more modern than the WH-1000XM4. Sony also wants to score with a long battery life.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 should come onto the market very soon. So far nothing was known about the appearance of the headphones – but that has now changed. The over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) should appear in two colors and in comparison with the predecessor appear lighter and more modern.

Compared to the WH-1000XM4, the successor larger ear pads and probably also a better padded headband. In addition, the hinge that holds the ear pads has been redesigned. An even more snug fit can be expected. The headphones’ on/off switch is now a slider. The “Custom” button stays in the same place but appears to have been renamed to “NC/Ambient”.

According to the leak, the Sony WH-1000XM5 have three microphones. For the noise suppression also show up two processors responsible (source. TechnologyNews). Bluetooth 5.2 is included as a wireless transmission standard. As usual, the headphones are charged via cable via USB-C.

Compared to the previous model, the Sony WH-1000XM5 should not only look different, but also offer a significantly longer battery life.
