Sony Xperia 1 IV is expected in May; first rumors are going around
The first reports about the new high-end smartphone from Sony are rolling in. Reportedly, Sony would like to announce the new Xperia 1 IV in May. Now we get to know the first specifications of the device.

When it comes to smartphone rumours, it’s not nearly as often about Sony as it is with Samsung, Motorola and other manufacturers, for example. In any case, the portfolio of Xperia devices is many times smaller than with other manufacturers. At the end of last year, there was the Sony Xperia Pro-I that should take it all to a higher level for photographers and videographers, but not really for the average consumer. There is also a choice of the Xperia 10 III in the middle segment; the Xperia 5 III and the Xperia 1 III. The latter will receive a successor in May, as is clear from new rumors.
The Xperia 1 III
The information is still somewhat limited, but we already get a first impression. Sony will equip the phone with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. In addition, Sony would like to add at least 12GB of RAM, with a choice of 16GB. The internal memory is 256GB/512GB and the battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh. This battery can be recharged with 45W, or it can also be charged wirelessly. There is also some information about the setup of the camera. There will be three lenses, with a new main lens, a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens that can handle different focal lengths. It is even expected that Sony as one of the few manufacturers will stick to a 3.5 mm headset connection.
We suspect that some more information will leak out in the near future. We are especially curious whether Sony will stick to the recognizable design, or whether it will go for a completely new design. We ourselves think that Sony is not doing crazy tricks for the design of the Sony Xperia 1 IV.
