Sony Ericsson K200i from 2007

With the Sony Ericsson K series, the manufacturer had a series of phones in its portfolio with a focus on the camera and shooting with the phone. We also saw this with the Sony Ericsson K200i released in 2007. We discuss the device in ‘The forgotten phone’.

Sony Ericsson K200i

The Sony Ericsson K200i is the next smartphone we cover in our ‘The forgotten phone’ section. The device has its origin in 2007 and was also released in our country. The device was quite square and equipped with glossy keys. The phone was released in black and light champagne. Although the K series focuses on the camera, this was not immediately reflected in the specifications of the phone. The K200i only received a VGA camera with a resolution of 0.3 megapixels from Sony Ericsson.

On board the K200i we saw a 1.6 inch STN screen with 65,000 colors and a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. There was 2MB of memory, and there was no room to expand. Fortunately, the size of a photo taken was small, so it didn’t take up too much space. You could share photos you had taken directly via MMS, or even with an email address. You could write your message with the keys below the screen, which in turn offered support for T9 input, so that typing a message could go a little faster.

There were several key features for the phone. At that time, these were completely different functions than how we know them now. The Sony Ericsson K200i, for example, stood out because of the use of the speaker; where you could put a telephone call ‘on the loudspeaker’. For the Sony Ericsson K200i you had to pay an amount of around 70 euros at the time

Sony Ericsson K200i summarized in 3 points:

  • Focused on camera – VGA camera
  • speakerphone
  • MMS
