Smarthome becomes more popular due to energy crisis
44 percent of households look to smart home products to keep their energy bills down. This is apparent from the GfK Smart Home Monitor 2022. Consumers are clearly more keen on buying energy-efficient and saving appliances, now that the prices of gas and electricity are skyrocketing.
Investing in smart home
Investing in smart home gadgets is a good way for consumers to quickly make their home more energy-efficient. You have to buy the equipment for it first, but it quickly pays for itself if energy prices continue at their current price. According to the monitor of the GfK (via Emerce), half of the consumers do not hesitate to pay an extra 20 percent for a product that is smart.
Many people now also seem to understand what a smart home actually is. The term was only known to 32 percent of people 7 years ago, but it is now 72 percent. There are an average of 5.4 smart devices per Dutch household. Think of smart lamps, smart robot vacuum cleaners and smart speakers to talk to, for example, Google Assistant. Medical devices such as a smart blood pressure monitor are also proving very popular, as is the smart air purifier (which will undoubtedly also be due to the pandemic). There are more smart home products that are in great demand. Read more on AWSmart.
