Siri will finally allow you to choose another music service by default
With the iOS 14.5 update, Apple will finally allow Siri to choose another music service by default than Music. Now, the voice assistant integrated into iPhone will be able to launch a track on Deezer, YouTube Music, or Spotify. The user is therefore no longer forced to specify the name of his music streaming service for each request. It’s a small revolution for iOS users.
The iOS 14.5 update, currently available in beta, brings a host of new features to iPhone. For example, the update activates 5G in dual sim on the iPhone 12, allows the use of a PS5 or Xbox Series X controller on the iPhone, and adapts Face ID to wearing the mask. Indeed, iOS 14.5 allows you to unlock the iPhone with Face ID even when wearing a mask if the user is equipped with an Apple Watch.
And that’s not all : iOS 14.5 update finally opens Siri to third-party music streaming services. Until now, iPhone users subscribed to Spotify, Deezer and others had to specify the name of their music service during each request made to Siri. By default, the voice assistant automatically used the Music app, which lists the user’s music library and Apple Music.

Siri now remembers the name of your favorite music streaming service
From now on, Siri will remember the name of the music streaming service chosen by the user during his first request. Concretely, it will suffice to ask the voice assistant to launch a single song with Spotify or Deezer. The following times, Siri will play music on the chosen service by default. If you don’t specify any streaming service name on the first request, iOS 14.5 will show a pop-up window. This window goes list the music streaming applications available on your iPhone. You just have to choose your streaming service.
This option only works if the user requests a particular track, artist or album. If you briefly ask the assistant to put on music, it will continue to choose the default Music application. For now, iOS 14.5 is only available in beta version. The final version of the update will be rolled out next spring. Apple can still make changes to how Siri works until then.
