To get a little more famous on the internet, pranks are considered a popular tool. Sometimes, however, these exceed moral boundaries or even laws – a YouTuber was even killed a few days ago.

Young YouTuber is shot

YouTuber Timothy Wilks was known among his community for his controversial pranks, among other things. Recently he wanted to implement a new but dangerous idea for his channel: together with a friend he decided to fake a robbery. He therefore threatened passers-by with a knife in a parking lot. A 23-year-old man, one of the passers-by, thought the situation was real and shot the YouTuber, who died of the gunshot wound. His friend was unharmed.

For the time being, the shooter is not facing charges

The police are currently investigating and examining the extent to which the shooter is defending himself. According to what he said, he didn’t know it was a prank. He only shot to protect others and himself. In the state of Tennessee it is legal to carry a weapon with you and use it for self-protection. It therefore remains to be seen whether he will be convicted.

This is not the first time that pranks have led to dangerous situations or even death. It wasn’t until 2018 that an innocent man died on a SWAT mission after a gamer made a prank call to the US police.
