Read on after the ad.

iOS 16 beta 2 now available to developers

The first developer beta of iOS 16 has only been available for a few weeks, but Apple has already made quite a few improvements in a second beta version. In addition to better overall stability, Apple has actually added new features. In this article, we’ll walk you through the most important changes of iOS 16 beta 2.

An important caveat is that this second iOS 16 beta probably existed before the first beta was even available. The chance is therefore small that specific bugs have already been fixed. Apple often completes new test versions of iOS a few weeks before release, so we don’t see the first real problems until the third beta at the earliest. Also, functions that are new in the third beta, for example, may disappear again in the fourth.

New Lock Screen Features

The Lock screen receives the biggest update ever in iOS 16. There are new fonts for the clock, users can add widgets, notifications are in a different place and there are all kinds of cool new backgrounds available. In the second beta, Apple will add a number of small features. For example, changing your wallpaper is now a lot clearer.

There are also two new filter options for the photo you use as the background. Apple is now reminding users that they can zoom in and out by pinching the screen. Do you have an older iPhone, such as an iPhone XR or XS? Then you will have the dynamic globe background in the second beta of iOS 16. In the first beta version, it was only available for the iPhone 11 and newer.

Other additions in the second iOS 16 beta

By far most of the changes are located around the lock screen, but Apple has made improvements in other places as well. For example, the filtering of messages has been improved. Users can now also fast forward videos in the system player by long-pressing and dragging the screen. Finally, making an iCloud backup is now possible via 4G and 5G internet.

The second beta of iOS 16 has only just been released, so we still have to test the software extensively. Who knows, we might run into other new features or issues. Apple is expected to release a new beta of iOS 16 every two to three weeks. We are very curious about what will change before the software becomes available to the general public.
