Search websites with emoij’s – Apparata

No more typing long URLs, but just searching for websites with some emojis. It’s possible from now on!

You can search for websites with emojis using the Opera web browser. Opera said yesterday that it has enabled emoji-based web addresses to “bring a new level of creativity to the web.”

Websites and emojis

You no longer need “www” or “.com” to access these sites. Just a set of mini icons. For example, if you wanted to go to the website of the rapper Lil Wayne, you would type an alien and a musical note. The feature was added in partnership with Yat, a company that sells emoji-based URLs.

These URLs – the emoij strings – are called Yats. Their owners can tokenize them as an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain and sell or hold a short animation of the string on OpenSea. The company plans to let users connect their Yats to electronic payments. Yats are between one and five characters. And can be sold from a few dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The most expensive Yat was a one-character gold key that cost $425,000 in mid-2021.

Celebrities

Celebrities especially like to have this. Many have already bought Yats for website hosting or promotions. You can visit the web pages of Steve Aoki (🎂🎵) or Lil Wayne (👽🎵) or the iTunes listing for the podcast “Questlove Supreme” by Questlove (❓❤️).

“It’s been nearly 30 years since the world wide web was launched to the public and there hasn’t been much innovation in web links – people are still including .com in their URLs,”. Jorgen Arnesen, executive vice president of mobile at Opera, said in a press release. So that’s about to change with these emojis.
