With the Samsung Galaxy S23 and its variants as Plus and Ultra models, new high-end smartphones await us in a few months. Actually, the joy was great, because one controversial component in particular should no longer be used there – the Exynos processor from Samsung. Now, surprisingly, the tide is turning.

Samsung Galaxy S23 partly with Exynos chip

There was great joy when Qualcomm announced at the end of July that only Snapdragon chips would be installed in Samsung’s upcoming high-end smartphones. The difference in performance between the Snapdragon and Exynos processors is too great, so Samsung only uses the Qualcomm chip. It is now known that this is probably not entirely true. Although the Exynos processor is clearly inferior, Samsung should still not rely entirely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip. Over 70 percent of the Galaxy S23 smartphones are said to be equipped with the better chip (source: Weibo). The rest should come back with the Exynos processor.

In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm, some Galaxy S23 smartphones from Samsung should also be equipped with the Exynos 2300. Even the predecessor couldn’t keep up with the Qualcomm chip, so the difference in the new generation should be even bigger. Where exactly the Samsung chip is installed is not known. In recent years, it has always been the Europeans who have received the “worse” processors. With a share of less than 30 percent, it cannot be ruled out that entire countries and regions will have to make do with the Samsung chip again.

Hardly any innovations in the Samsung Galaxy S23

A lot of information about the Galaxy S23 smartphones has recently leaked through the rumor mill. It should basically a minimally improved version of the Galaxy S22, in which some steps are even taken backwards. Now there is also the uncertainty with the processor, which makes the smartphone a real grab bag. Only with the Galaxy S23 Ultra will Samsung probably not make any compromises. We will know exactly what to expect by February 2023 at the latest. That’s when the presentation will take place – if everything goes according to plan.
