Samsung wants retractable S Pen for folding phones

The Galaxy Z-Fold mobile phones from Samsung have supported the S Pen for some time. However, the pen cannot be pushed into the housing. Samsung had recently made this possible with the Galaxy S22 Ultra (test) and wants to implement it with folding cell phones as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be the first model with a slot-in S Pen if Samsung’s plans work out. That was also expected with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. In the end, it didn’t come to that. The aim is to build the most productive smartphone in the world (Source: The Elec).

Samsung aims to achieve 80 percent growth in foldable phones by 2025. This is what models like this are supposed to do Galaxy Z Fold 5 become thinner, lighter and stronger. At the same time, an S Pen should also be able to be inserted. Samsung also wants to further reduce the notch in the display in order to improve the look when it is unfolded. The camera should also achieve a significantly better quality. So Samsung has big plans for the next few years. The expectations of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 can therefore be set a little higher. But whether Samsung can really implement that is another question. Especially the S Pen in the case will be a real challenge.

Samsung gets more competition

The big improvements that Samsung is planning for its folding cell phones are no coincidence. Samsung still dominates the market for foldable smartphones, but there is more and more strong competition from China on the market. So Samsung has to keep stepping on the gas in order not to be overtaken. We will keep you up to date.
