“Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will soon be very limited available”

Samsung is going to release its large 14.6-inch tablet on a small scale. The reason for this can be found in production problems with the screen and the high production costs. The tablet will be launched on Wednesday at a Galaxy Unpacked event.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

Samsung surprised last week by announcing an Unpacked launch event that will take place on Wednesday. We expect to see the new Galaxy S21 FE there along with the Galaxy Tab S8 series. And about those tablets, less positive news is now emerging.

According to South Korean media, the Tab S8 Ultra top model, with its huge 14.6 inch AMOLED screen, will be difficult to find once it comes out. Samsung will only release the tablet in a limited number of markets, so we don’t know whether it will also appear with us. Once the tablet goes on sale in those limited markets, availability will also be very low.

Production issues

For the root of the problem, this time we should not look to the global chip shortage, something that has delayed the S21 FE launch. This time, the huge 120 Hz AMOLED panel has everything to do with it. Samsung is running into production problems and the production cost would be very high, making the price margins for sales less interesting.

The Tab S8 Ultra would also not come with a normal 14.6 inch screen, but one with extra fine screen edges. Traditionally, the edges of tablets are slightly wider compared to smartphones, but the Tab S8 Ultra, according to information from the rumor spreader Tron have finer edges compared to the S21 range. Samsung has developed a new screen technology for this, called ‘Border Reduction Structure’ or BRS. The company also plans to use BRS with its flagship phones in the future.

Highlighting screen technology

But everything points to the Tab S8 Ultra becoming a device with which Samsung primarily wants to show what it has to offer in terms of screen technology. That’s just a shame for the consumers who like such an extra large tablet. What do you think of a 14.6 inch tablet? Would you like to get one, or do you prefer a smaller one?
