The Samsung Galaxy S23 is not very innovative, but technically this phone has improved a lot and apart from the hefty price, it actually has no weak points.

Solid device with no weaknesses

It seems that the smartphone as we know it is a bit underdeveloped. At least, that’s what you would say if you look at what the various manufacturers are introducing in terms of innovations. A slightly better lens, a somewhat larger battery and a higher charging speed. That pretty much sums up the improvements in 2023. It’s all pretty much in line with expectations.

Then it will become more important whether you have a good, solid phone with a pleasant user experience. And in that respect, you’re in the right place with the Samsung Galaxy S23. As we are used to from Samsung, it is a solid, user-friendly and harmonically composed device that you can always count on in daily use.

Samsung Galaxy S23, the main changes

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S23 is broadly similar to its predecessor, with some subtle changes. What is invisible is that the screen is made of the stronger glass type Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The only change is that there is now no large “pimple” for all lenses together, but each lens has its own ring. The device is also smaller, making it easier to put it in your pocket

Compared to the S22, the Samsung Galaxy S23 has a slightly larger battery, at 3900 mAh. The charging speed, with 25 watts via the USB port and 15 watts wirelessly, has remained unchanged. You can choose between 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. So no very spectacular changes.

Do you want a phone that charges much faster? Then you will have to go for one of the more expensive variants, such as the Plus or the Ultra. These reach charging speeds of 45 watts. These low charging speeds are a thing where Samsung, not to mention Apple, fails to match the Chinese.

Inside a much better chipset

The biggest change is inside. The new chipset of the Samsung Galaxy S 23 uses Qualcomm’s top product, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2. It is built on TSMC’s 4 nm process. So more power in a smaller size. This chipset is also much more economical, so you can enjoy the battery much longer than with the predecessor.

As a result, the chipset leaves all other competitors behind and only has to tolerate the Apple iPhone 14 Pro in the Geekbench 6 test. On the 3DMark and PCMark tests, Samsung amply beats all competitors, including Apple.

Everyday tasks are fast and smooth with this very powerful hardware. The connectivity is also industry standard and market leading. With Android 13 installed and four updates ahead, you can use this phone until 2027.

In the United States, this phone is available for $800. In the European Union you pay considerably more, up to a thousand euros. That makes the Samsung Galaxy S23, as always with Samsung, a solid choice, which does come with a price tag. You can find the specs here.
