Samsung downgrades four Galaxy A smartphones in update policy

Four smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy A series are downgraded in the update schedule. This means that updates are rolled out less often. Which devices does this change apply to?

Less frequent updates for A devices

Samsung used to have a moderate update policy. We can now say that Samsung has radically changed this and now belongs to the manufacturer with the best update policy. Nevertheless, it is occasionally time to adjust the update schedule, which has now happened for four devices. The four devices from the Galaxy A series in question will no longer receive major Android updates, but will still be updated with a security update. These are no longer published every quarter, but from now on once every six months. It seems that the last year is being used in which security patches are still being distributed for the four devices mentioned.

The devices in question are the following models;

  • Samsung Galaxy A20s
  • Samsung Galaxy A30s
  • Samsung Galaxy A50s
  • Samsung Galaxy A70s
