Samsung brings cloud gaming to TVs

Samsung

Samsung technology company will bring cloud gaming to its TVs in 2022. Read here why that is good news.

Cloud gaming is not entirely new. Think of Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now. Now Samsung will also do it on their new TVs in 2022, so you don’t need a console to play games. Samsung says 2022 TV models will give you access to GeForce Now, Stadia and Utomik cloud gaming services within a new Samsung Gaming Hub.

Samsung and cloud gaming

You can think of this interface as a kind of Netflix for games, where you can quickly access the most recently played titles or discover new ones. You can buy and play games directly from the hub. Samsung’s Gaming Hub allows for pairing a variety of controllers, including those for PS5 or Xbox Series X, though it’s unclear whether you’ll be able to use it to play cloud games. The hub also integrates YouTube Gaming.

“We know that gaming is becoming increasingly popular with our customers and we have bridged the gap between our leadership in smart TV and advanced gaming software to create an easier way for people to enjoy the games they love faster. ”, says Won-Jin Lee. , the company president of Samsung Electronics. “We developed the Samsung Gaming Hub with our incredible content partners to benefit all gamers, and we plan to continue our partnership to grow the ecosystem.”

Cost

Of course this is not free. If you want to use this cloud, you have to take out a subscription. Google Stadia, for example, costs 10 euros per month. It does come with a one month free trial.
