Samsung has announced the new foldable smartphones for 2022. The manufacturer takes the canvas off the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The two smartphones have often dominated the news in recent weeks. Now we know everything about the new devices.

Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 announced

As a successor to the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 3 series, here are the models for 2022. The manufacturer announced the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 this afternoon. This afternoon we also saw the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Previously, there were rumors that the ‘Z’ would be dropped from the name; but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We list the details of the two smartphones for you.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

We start with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. This stylish smartphone has many similarities with the previous model. The smartphone is equipped with a folding screen where you open it like a clam shell device from the past. We start on the outside; there sits on the front and a 1.9 inch secondary screen with a resolution of 512 x 260 pixels. With this you can immediately open a preview of the camera and of course you also get direct insight into notifications, notifications and the like.

When unfolded, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a Full-HD+ resolution, along with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The Samsung smartphone will receive the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, along with 8GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. You take the photos with the 12MP camera or 12MP wide-angle lens. You can partially fold the Z Flip 4 to take hands-free videos or group selfies from different angles. With Quick Shot you can immediately make razor-sharp video recordings or photos and share them directly with, for example, Facebook; this while just leaving the screen closed; because this is what you do with the Cover Screen.

There is a 10 megapixel front camera placed behind the screen. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with a 3700 mAh battery with support for 25W fast and 15W wireless charging. It is the first smartphone with Android 12L and the smartphone will receive four Android OS updates and five years of security updates.

The price of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts at 1099 euros. If you go for the 256GB version, you have to transfer 1159 euros to the South Korean account. For the 512GB version, this amount is 1279 euros.

Of course there is also the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. This foldable smartphone can be recognized by a different design; you open it like a book, just like with the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung promises a smartphone where the hinges are even better and the fold between the screen is even better concealed. Samsung lets you multitask better on the new Z Fold 4, and that is also possible thanks to the 7.6-inch AMOLED screen with Quad-HD + resolution. There is room to have three windows open at the same time on the Fold. Of course there is the S Pen with which you can get even more out of the device. So you can draw or take notes on the go.

Here too we see the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of storage. In some countries there is also a 1TB version available, and it is also coming to the Netherlands. Samsung has placed the 10 megapixel camera behind the large screen. On the outside, there is a 50MP, 12MP wide-angle and 10MP telephoto camera for capturing images. Samsung lets you zoom in 3x optically with this telephoto lens. On this exterior, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 6.2 inch screen with a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels, making it narrower than a normal smartphone. It also has to be good with the protection; the device has been opened and tested 200,000 times and the phone must also pass drop tests.

If you opt for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, you will have to dig deep into your pocket. The price starts at 1799 euros, while you get the version with 512GB internal storage for 1899 euros. The 1TB model comes to our country for 2159 euros.
