Xiaomi has announced the CyberOne, which is the company’s first robot to have human-like traits. For example, the robot can comfort you when you are sad.

CyberOne is the latest member of the Xiaomi Cyber series and joins the four-legged robot Cyberdog. That reports AWSmart. CyberOne has advanced arms and legs, can stand and walk on two legs and has a torque of up to 300Nm. The robot can recognize human emotions and with its advanced vision is able to create three-dimensional virtual reconstructions of the real world. In addition, it has a large number of other advanced technologies.

Both the AI and the mechanics CyberOne uses are developed by Xiaomi Robotics Lab. We have invested heavily in research & development, including software, hardware and algorithm innovations. The life-size humanoid robot has AI at its core, provides a glimpse into the future capabilities of Xiaomi’s technology ecosystem and represents another breakthrough for the company.

Humanoid robots rely on their sight

CyberOne is able to perceive the space around it in three dimensions, and can recognize individuals, gestures and expressions. All this is possible thanks to the algorithms developed by Xiaomi itself. In addition, CyberOne is equipped with technologies that recognize 85 types of environmental sounds and 45 classifications of human emotions. CyberOne can therefore detect happiness and is even able to comfort the user when they are sad. All these functions are integrated into CyberOne’s smart processors, which are coupled with a curved OLED screen. That screen displays real-time interactive information.

Xiaomi wants to bring robots into people’s lives

It has long ceased to be science fiction and Xiaomi is bringing the future to the present with this humanoid robot. According to Xiaomi, the biggest challenge with humanoid robots is to mimic human behavior in all kinds of scenarios such as perception, cognition, decision making.

Lei Jun founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi notes that the humanoid robots are the biggest challenge in the field of intelligent robotics. Xiaomi is thus taking its first steps in this field and CyberOne will be further developed. “We think intelligent robots will definitely play an important role in people’s lives in the future,” said Lei Jun.
