Aldi now also has fresh pizza in its range – and it’s baked by the robot. In a pilot project, the mechanical pizza robot provides up to 450 pizzas a day, which are said to have “restaurant quality”. After two minutes they are already done.

Aldi’s new robot bakes pizza

In Australia, Aldi has launched a new project in which hungry customers get their money’s worth. In one of the branches in Sydney there is now a pizza machine that only two minutes needed for a finished pizza. For the equivalent of 5.69 euros are required. The discounter promises that no compromises should be made when it comes to quality. On the contrary, the announcement confidently speaks of “restaurant quality” (source: Aldi Unpacked).

Customers can choose between the Peperoni and Italiana variants. There shouldn’t be long queues in front of the robot, because according to Aldi, the machine can 17 pizzas an hour bake. The “Pizzabot” itself is contributed by Placer Robotics and made in Australia.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Pizzabot, a true Australian innovation, to provide the highest quality pizza and a unique experience at the lowest price,” said Store Manager Huw Longman. It is doubtful whether the pizza robot will soon be offered outside of Sydney. Currently there would be “no plans” to expand the pilot project, is it[calledInadditiontherobotshouldonlyprovidefreshpizzas“foralimitedtime”

The robot has a glass pane that customers can use to follow the process directly. After two minutes, the optional with Buffalo mozzarella, basil and salami topped pizza pulled out of the machine together with the box.
