Roaming in the EU will be free of charge until at least 2032

The successful domestic roaming program at the EU will continue. With this program, the European Union removed our concerns about calling or dating abroad a few years ago. According to the original 5-year plan, the program was to end in the summer. The report is made by the Council of the European Union.

Roaming in the EU continues at domestic prices

We will continue to enjoy roaming in the EU at the same prices as in Slovakia. At least until 2032. The European Union has updated its roaming rules so that we do not have to worry about the price of mobile communication on holiday next summer.

“Domestic roaming policies have made communication easier and cheaper for people traveling around Europe, so it is no wonder that this is one of the biggest successes of the digital single market. I am very pleased that the Slovenian Presidency has managed to reach a political agreement with the European Parliament in good time so that consumers and businesses can continue to reap this tangible benefit, while supporting one of our core values, namely the free movement of people within the EU. ” said Boštjan Koritnik, President of the EU Council and Slovenian Minister of Public Administration.

The updated regulation adjusts wholesale prices so that roaming at local prices continues to be beneficial for local operators. The Fair-use Policy (FUP), which aims to prevent persistent roaming, will continue.

The regulation also ensures that customers have a good experience with quality of service and access to hotlines. Finally, we would like to add that this regulation helps to increase the transparency of operators’ offers so that you are not surprised by the unexpected amount of the invoice at home.

The Slovenian Presidency is set to present this agreement to the Council for approval on 15 December. Subsequently, it will also have to be approved by the European Parliament.
