RIVM: ‘More children with rotavirus in hospital’

Drinking Vaccine

Last summer, the Health Council already recommended a (drinking) vaccine against the rotavirus for children aged 6 to 32 weeks – for example, 1930 to 3,389 hospital admissions could be prevented annually. Still, no decision has been taken on this: the previous State Secretary for Health Paul Blokhuis has passed that decision on to the new cabinet. “Before a decision can be made on new policies, funding must be found for them in the budget.” The new State Secretary Maarten van Ooijen promises to do his best to follow the advice of the Health Council.
