Realme is ready to unleash a new high-end phone on the world in February. The brand is already lifting a corner of the veil, because on Chinese social media we are told that the Realme GT Neo 5 uses a 240W fast charger.

With the GT Neo 5, Realme is the first smartphone brand to use the new 240W fast charger that OPPO announced last year. That charger has an output of 10B and 24A and Realme uses a custom charging cable with extra thick copper wires. The capacity has been increased by 20 percent thanks to that cable. The phone can supposedly charge from 0 to 100 percent in 9 minutes.

However, safety for users has also been considered. The charger contains 13 sensors that monitor the temperature during charging and thus adjust the power. The temperature is kept as low as possible by means of graphene and the housing of the charger is also made fire-resistant.

Battery health

Powerful fast chargers automatically raise concerns about the impact on the battery of phones. In the past, for example, Xiaomi had to admit that its 200W charger has a significant negative impact on battery life.

Realme states that this is different with its GT Neo 5. The phone uses a battery that has more life cycles than the average battery. The battery can handle a total of 1,600 charge cycles, compared to 800 for the average smartphone.
