Qulacomm Snapdragon 888+ reveals what it will bring?

It has become such a small tradition that the American Qualcomm, approximately half a year after the launch of the new flag chipset, comes up with a slightly improved variant with a mathematical plus sign in the name. It seems that the current Snapdragon 888 will also see a slightly improved variant, although of course we can only speculate about when this chipset will first look at a smartphone. However, for now, we can get at least a rough idea of ​​the improvements with which the new Snapdragon 888+ will probably arrive.

Snapdragon 888+ offers a higher maximum frequency

If the information in the GeekBench benchmark database really belongs to the final version of the Qualcom Snapdragon 888+ chipset, we can count on by increasing the frequency on the main – powerful core of the processor. This continues to be the Kryo 680 core based on Cortex X1 technology, which should now work on frequency 3 GHz compared to the previous 2.84 GHz. In the case of other clusters, the clocks are maintained at 2.42 and 1.8 GHz, respectively.



As for the result of the benchmark itself, on the one hand it is not yet possible to take it completely seriously, on the other hand we see only really a slight improvement over the standard Snapdragon 888. However, we did not notice a significant difference compared to the original chipset in GeekBench even after the arrival of Snapdragon 865+, which also experienced a smaller increase in maximum frequency.

However, the question remains, what other changes did Qualcomm prepare for us, because only increasing the frequency of the processor would be disappointing for many of these “intergenerations”. For example, you can expect increase the clock speed on the graphics chip cores, or its further modifications – for example, increasing the number of cores? Given how the Snapdragon 888 can heat in some phones – the OnePlus 9 Pro, for example, knows this – there would be no partial improvement in this regard. However, this seems less likely to us.
