QuelCosmetic – Avoid unwanted substances

You may be thinking about it “in the morning while shaving”, in your day cream, in the baby wash gel, what maybe the products you use that contain unwanted ingredients? This application offered by UFC-Que Choisir will provide you with many answers while allowing you to choose the right cosmetic products you need on a daily basis.

All you need to do is scan the barcode of a product using your Smartphone to immediately see its rating.

This application is part of the projects implemented by UFC-Que Choisir for the benefit of all consumers and is funded through the endowment fund. The latter is fed by your donations and by the royalties obtained through the marketing of the license to use La Note Que Choisir, a benchmark at the service of consumers that can be used by professionals to distinguish products having obtained more than 14/20 to one of the comparative trials.

Characteristics :
– More than 120,000 references have already been evaluated, which can generally be found in supermarkets.
– All departments are represented (facial, body, hair, baby products, sunglasses, dental hygiene, make-up, perfumes, etc.).
– Display of lists in alphabetical order.
– History of scans.
– Search function to quickly find a particular reference.
– The ingredients considered undesirable are endocrine disruptors, allergens, irritants and other toxicants. This list of undesirable ingredients is established thanks to the scientific monitoring of experts.
– The assessment differs according to the person concerned (pregnant women, toddlers (from birth to 3 years), for children and adolescents, for adults).
– The color of the assessment goes from green (no risk identified to date) to red (significant risk), it is accompanied by letters from A to D for color blind people.
– If a product you are using contains unwanted ingredients, one click will take you to a list of more recommendable counterparts.
– Click on the colored pictogram of an incriminated ingredient in order to obtain an explanation of its harmfulness. The complete composition of the product will also be displayed.
– A product interests you but it is not yet present in the database? You can report it directly through the app by scanning the barcode and photographing the product in question and its list of ingredients. If you decide to enter your e-mail address, you will receive a personal notification when it is added to the list.

Notes:
– The list of undesirable ingredients is evolving since scientific knowledge is constantly being refined. Such an ingredient considered safe today may turn out to be less harmless in a few years than previously thought.
– Only ingredients harmful to health are listed, those which have an impact on the environment are not taken into account.
– The assessment corresponds to that of the most harmful ingredient of all those present in the product concerned.
– The result concerns only the composition of the product and in no case does it provide information on its intrinsic quality or its effectiveness.
