Several manufacturers have announced that they will use the very latest Qualcomm chipset in their devices. It is the Snapdragon 888 processor, about which we will now get more information.
Snapdragon 888
Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 888. This makes it the successor of the Snapdragon 865 (+) that was the high-end chipset until now. The chipset is equipped with an integrated 5G modem and has a Kryo 680 CPU with eight cores. First of all, there is the main core with a computing speed of 2.84GHz. Furthermore, we find four cores that focus on energy consumption efficiency (1.8GHz) and three other cores (2.42 GHz). The Snapdragon 888 is baked on a 5nm Samsung process.
The new chipset must be better in all areas. Among other things, it can have three camera lenses simultaneously filming in 4K video with HDR. The three sensors can also be used simultaneously for capturing photos. There is extensive support for networks, as well as several technical highlights. We find this in security options, AI, connectivity and Quick Charge 5. It can handle speeds of more than 100 watts.
Several manufacturers have already announced that they will release a (high-) end smartphone with a Snapdragon 888. We will see the chipset in devices from Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Asus and various other brands.
