Protest actions: No climate protection without profitability!

Be it sticking to the streets or wantonly destroying cultural assets: Why do people resort to such means? Is it really about paying attention to climate protection? Or are we seeing the desperate attempts of an incapable generation? We all face problems regularly and know that we have to act in a solution-oriented manner. But problem solving has to be learned.

The TUI study “Young Europe2023 is cause for concern. According to this study, most young people are worried and negative about their future. The reason: the framework conditions for a life of prosperity have changed in recent decades. Exorbitant rise in real estate costs, high interest rates, significantly higher living costs.

There are also wars that cause fear. Climate changes that are happening at an alarming rate and will get much worse without drastic changes. These are the great challenges of future generations, but many do not know how to deal with them.

Climate protection in generational conflict

I notice differences between the generations here. While some see their work as a life’s work, for others their free time is particularly important. For many young people, work is often just a means to an end to earn a little money.

The standard of living of the parents now seems unattainable for many anyway. That’s why they prefer to live in the here and now than to work supposedly pointless hours. They are looking for meaning and usually don’t see any. This leads to skipping actions.

attention at all costs

A rescue service that does not come to an emergency. Workers who miss their important appointment. Cultural property vandalized.

Is that really the way to achieve the goals of the young people? Is this supposed to be the solution to a problem? From my point of view, these actions are just counterproductive and show a lack of understanding for a functioning economic system. Nothing works in a country without production and money.

Many protest actions harm the very people who support the system! Destroying a functioning economy will not stop climate change. Rather, it does the exact opposite!

Climate protection is important!

Of course climate protection is important and in one or the other place the changes don’t go far enough for me either.

But we can only fight climate change together. After all, that is only possible with a functioning economy. The young generation of workers must also understand this! Be active in business yourself to bring about change instead of demonizing everything from the outside!

If suddenly everyone only works part-time, tax revenues are drastically reduced, there is not enough left to drive innovation.

What society needs to do about it!

The problem was grabbed and eliminated. Not everyone is lazy and dispassionate, but perhaps we are giving the younger generation too few opportunities to become meaningfully active.

Commitment to your job takes you to positions where you can really make a difference! Drive innovation and develop new possibilities for a better future! Revising economic processes sensibly and thinking entrepreneurially instead of starting senseless protests should be the way to go. That has to be taught in our schools.

Then we will create a generation with which we will not only advance climate protection, but will also continue to be economical and innovative. Young people have to find meaning in what they do. Employers could encourage this through honest sustainability, for example.
