When people talk about a good ecosystem for end customers, they used to mean Apple. Years ago, the iPhone manufacturer managed to ensure that its own devices work together perfectly across all systems. The success of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is finally tempting Google to do exactly the same thing – with a whole lot of new devices.

Google has announced many new Pixel devices

The hardware part of the Google I/O 2022 was divided into three areas. Firstly, the products that we will soon be able to buy. Then products were shown that are coming soon and thirdly Google showed a preview of the pixel future.

Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Buds Pro introduced

  • That Google Pixel 6a is a smartphone for a mid-range price of 459 euros, but it has the high-end processor Tensor on board and thus supports all the software features of its big brothers. With the 6.1-inch display, it is a bit smaller, but does not have to do without an OLED display. It’s a shame that Google only uses a 60 Hz display and the 12 MP camera from the Pixel 5. But it should also perform well. In addition, there is an ultra wide-angle lens for more variability. The smartphone offers 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage, a 4,306 mAh battery and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There are also five year updates here. The market launch is on July 28th, you can pre-order from July 21st.
  • the Google Pixel Buds Pro are basically an alternative to Google’s AirPods Pro. They offer a very long battery life, support ANC and get the “Spatial Audio” feature. Google also integrates a function that makes noise cancellation usable even if the earphones do not fit perfectly. The runtime should be 7 hours with ANC and 11 hours without ANC. The price is 219 euros. The market launch is on July 28th, you can pre-order from July 21st.

  • Google satisfies many Pixel fans with the Pixel watch a big wish. The company has officially announced the Android smartwatch. A lot has been seen of her, but hardly any specifications have been received. In any case, it will have deep Fitbit integration and the watch supports Google Home and Wallet. Wear OS 3.0 will be complete by release later this year. This includes the Google Assistant. No price is known.
  • Surprisingly, Google also has that Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro already shown and the design revealed to forestall the leaks. The camera bar on the back is brought even more into focus. Otherwise, according to current information, the smartphone has hardly changed optically. However, the 2nd generation Tensor chip will be used.

Google Pixel tablet and AR glasses

  • Google won’t do that until 2023 Pixel tablet introduce. A slightly larger Android tablet with specially optimized software and located in the premium area. The proprietary Tensor chip is also used here. Exact details about the equipment are missing and when exactly it will appear remains open.
  • It was really impressive Demonstration of the new AR glasses, who looks completely normal and works as a translator. The glasses listen and display the text in the language in the glasses that you understand. You can see how this works in the video above. What the glasses cost and when they will come remains open. However, Google has found a new way for its AR glasses and a design that is not unpleasantly noticeable.

Personal conclusion: I’m very excited about the new Pixel products. The Pixel Watch, Buds Pro, and tablet feel like a sensible extension. So Google is really serious about tablets and wants to be successful again. Even with the AR glasses, Google seems to have finally found a sensible way that really shows added value for people. It will be exciting to see what else is to come.
