Philips Hue launches new garden lighting and effects in the app
Philips Hue launches a new range of smart outdoor lighting. There is a new ‘Inara’ wall lamp and the ‘Calla’ pedestal lamps to illuminate your garden path. The brand also announces new effects in the Philips Hue app.
Philips Hue garden lighting
Philips Hue is going to expand its range of garden lighting. The Inara wall lamp looks like a wall lantern and you can attach it to an outside wall. The lamp produces a warm white light and is dimmable as you are used to from smart lamps. The lamp itself resembles a Filament lamp, or a lamp with a filament.
The brand also releases new pedestals that you can place on a terrace or garden path for a long time. The Calla pedestals are each 25 centimeters in size and also work with colored light. You can easily connect multiple lamps via the supplied extension cables, and they work via a low voltage system. Both the Calla and Inara lamps are resistant to all weather conditions. You can also link the lights to smart physical switches and they also work with outdoor motion sensors.
Light effects in the app
Philips Hue is going to add new lighting effects to the Hue app, starting with a ‘Candle’ and ‘Fireplace’ effect. Your colored lamps then simulate the effect of candlelight or a fireplace together. The effect would be best on the Philips Hue gradient lamps, ie the gradient light strip, gradient light tube and gradient Signe table or floor lamp. You could already use special Hue effects via the experimental functions in the app, but for the first time they now have a prominent place in the app.
Prices and availability
The two new garden lamps will be available from February 8. The brand previously showed a new range of lamps and fixtures for indoor use in September last year. Philips Hue wants to roll out the light effects in the first quarter of 2022, but more effects are to follow after Candle and Fireplace.
