Suppose your maternity leave is over: will you go back to work or will you add parental leave to it? From 2 August, parents can take nine weeks of paid parental leave. What are the advantages? And how do you handle it?

Mamaplaats editor-in-chief Laura Hogendoorn discusses it in this podcast with Kek Mama vlogger Eline Olde Kalter and René van der Mark, Creative at Familyblend.

Paid parental leave

From 2 August you can take nine weeks of paid parental leave, during which you will be paid 70% of your daily wage by UWV. If your daily wage is higher than the legally established maximum daily wage, you will be paid the maximum daily wage. You are eligible for this arrangement if your child is not yet 1 year old on August 2 or if your foster or adopted child is not yet 8 years old on August 2 and it has been welcomed into the family less than a year ago.
