OPPO launches dirt-cheap smartphone with 50 MP camera

OPPO brings the A17 to the Netherlands. That is a budget phone with a 50MP camera and large battery. The OPPO A17 is available immediately for a suggested retail price of 179 euros.

OPPO A17 is dirt cheap

With the A17, OPPO has announced a new phone in the budget segment. The phone has a 6.56 inch LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and a water drop notch. The screen has an HD resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels.

The battery of the OPPO A17 is a 5,000 mAh one that works with a 10 watt charger via micro-usb. According to OPPO, when fully charged, this battery can provide 20 hours of phone calls or 20 hours of average YouTube viewing time. Furthermore, OPPO has opted for a camera setup with a 50 MP main camera and a 5 MP selfie camera. On the side is a fingerprint scanner on the side and there is also a 3.5mm audio jack on the OPPO A17.

Luxuriously finished design

The OPPO A17 is available in two colors, Lake Blue and Midnight Black, with a leather-look finish. This finish has a structure with a light leather grain and the outer layer is covered with a UV coating. The housing is also dust resistant.

OPPO’s new phone works with the MediaTek Dimensity G35 chipset and that means there is no 5G support. The A17 gets 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, and features OPPO’s ColorOS 12.1 shell, which is based on Android 12. OPPO adds extras such as FlexDrop. This allows you to keep an extra app open in a small floating window, so you can multitask when switching between apps. ColorOS 12.1 also includes several security features and “Three-Finger Translate” with Google Lens that allows you to quickly translate text in a screenshot.
