Oppo comes with a new update policy: this is going to change

Oppo has announced that it will use a new update policy from 2023. For the time being, this concerns changes that will apply to devices that are released in the high-end segment.

Oppo with new update policy

After OnePlus previously came up with a new update policy, Oppo is now also introducing changes to the update plans. Oppo has announced that the changes will apply to the devices that will be released in the high-end segment from 2023. It is emphasized that these are ‘selected flagship models from 2023’. It will therefore not apply to devices such as the Find X5, but will only apply to the Oppo Find X6, about which we have heard a few things from the rumor circuit in recent times.

Oppo will provide security updates to the affected devices for a period of five years. It is not specified at what interval they appear. In terms of Android updates, the brand is also clear. The devices in question will receive four Android updates. Oppo literally speaks of ‘four major ColorOS updates’, but it can be assumed that this also concerns Android versions, since a new version of ColorOS is released with every Android version.
