OPPO A98 5G official: micro lens, fast charging and snow crystals

OPPO has just officially launched the A98 5G in the Netherlands. The device is mainly focused on delivering good battery performance. The A98 5G does this on the one hand with its large 5000 mAh battery, but on the other hand also through the support of fast charging and OPPO’s Battery Health Engine. What is this exactly? And what else does the smartphone have to offer?

OPPO A98 5G

Like Samsung, OPPO has a midrange smartphone lineup that goes by the name A series wears. Unlike Samsung, the Chinese manufacturer focuses on other points, as we also see with the new A98 5G. OPPO mainly focuses on battery performance with this device. It has put a large 5000 mAh battery in the A98 5G that you can charge with a power of 67W. This allows you to fully charge the smartphone in about 45 minutes.

In addition, the phone is equipped with OPPO’s Battery Health Engine. This is a technique developed by the manufacturer that ensures that the battery retains up to 80% of its original capacity even after 1600 charge and discharge cycles. This is no less than twice as much as the standard.

Snow crystals and micro lens

The device also has a large 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The phone, excluding the screen of course, is entirely made of plastic. OPPO has again chosen to apply the so-called OPPO Glow. This stands for several layers that together have to mimic the effect of snow crystals and form a shimmering look.

On the back of the smartphone we see three camera lenses. This is about a 64 MP main camera, a 2 MP micro lens and a 2 MP depth camera. The main camera is especially useful. The micro lens is a nice addition, because it allows you to shoot images with a magnification of no less than 40x. However, the 2 MP resolution ensures that the quality is so low that photos will unfortunately be of little use. The OPPO A98 5G is now available for a price from 385 euros. For this you get 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone is available at MediaMarkt, Mobiel.nl and OPPO, among others, unfortunately only in the color Cool Black.

With its current starting price, the phone is in a price segment full of competitors such as the Google Pixel 6a, Nothing Phone (1) and the Samsung Galaxy A34.
