OnePlus is preparing a cheap smart bracelet

OnePlus is serious about accessories. A few days ago, we informed about the smart watch that the company is preparing. Now the Android Community portal informs that OnePlus is also going to release an affordable smart bracelet.

Direct competition with Xiaomi bracelets, even with similar specifications

The OnePlus Band will be OnePlus’s first wearable device and will compete directly with the Xiaomi Mi Band series devices, which are among the most popular in this segment. They will focus on the affordable segment, while the recently introduced OnePlus Watch will focus on the more expensive segment.

So far, we know that the OnePlus Band will have some specifications similar to the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 bracelet – it will offer water resistance, AMOLED display and multi-day battery life. No other information on the specifications of the device is available yet, but they will most likely not be far from the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 bracelet.

So far only available in India

OnePlus Band will currently only be available in India. This strategy makes sense, India accounts for more than a third of OnePlus smartphone sales. It is also a good market for testing cheap equipment, as the people of India prefer affordable equipment to more expensive ones. However, it is not known in which other countries the bracelet will be available later.

The OnePlus Band is expected to be officially unveiled in the first quarter of 2021 and to be launched before the launch of the new OnePlus 9 flagship. So we should probably learn more about it in January or February.
