OnePlus is going to introduce the OnePlus 9 series and its own watch in March
If we look at the reports from October last year, we find that the arrival of the OnePlus 9 model line was indicated in the middle of March. The Chinese manufacturer had a tradition of launching its new smartphones in May, but in 2020 it broke that tradition and introduced OnePlus 8, along with its “Pro” edition.

We will see three smartphones and a smart watch right away
The sooner a company presents its innovations, the better it can compete with other companies. OnePlus also realized this and will present its “nine” series in mid-March. The phones from the OnePlus 9 series will consist of three models.
We will see the classic OnePlus 9, but we can also look forward to the 9 Pro and another cheaper model (with the 9E / 9 Lite / 9R attribute). In addition, according to the Phone Arena website, there is also talk of upcoming smart watches. The brand should introduce these along with the new smartphones.
What should the OnePlus 9 smartphone series bring?
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro models are likely to be powered by one of the most powerful mobile processors at the moment, the Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm’s US workshop. The chipset will be supplemented with 12 GB of RAM and at least 128 GB of internal storage.
The devices should have a 4,500 mAh battery with support for fast, 65 W charging. The “Pro” variant should have a 6.7-inch adaptive LTPO OLED panel with a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. Leaks also indicate the presence of Hasselblad cameras.
The primary module will have 48 MP, an ultra wide angle 64 MP and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom then 8 MP. The equipment should also include 45 W fast wireless charging or certification of resistance to water and dust IP68. The standard model should feature a 6.5-inch screen with 120 Hz.
The main sensor will be 48 MP, ultra-wide 50 MP and until the third there will be another 2 MP camera, the function of which will probably be almost irrelevant, as is the case with sensors with a similar resolution.
The cheapest model will offer a 6.5-inch display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a mid-range Snapdragon 690 processor and a 64 MP main camera, along with an 8 MP ultra wide angle. The 5,000 mAh battery will be charged with a 30 W fast adapter.
The watch will be another surprise
As for the mentioned smart watch, it should be a similar piece as the Oppo Watch RX. After all, OnePlus is a subsidiary and their smartphones also have an alternative to the Oppo brand in most cases.
The operating system is said to be Wear OS directly from Google. If we learn more about the upcoming devices, we will let you know. You can also follow our Facebook or Instagram for more messages.
What will compete with the new OnePlus 9?
The recently introduced Redmi K40 model line will be a capable competitor for the upcoming OnePlus smartphones. It is characterized above all by an extremely competitive price, which is ridiculously low due to the parameters offered.
For around € 253 for the base model, you’ll get a 120 Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 870 processor, good memory and solid cameras. We assume that the new OnePlus will be at least three times more expensive, at least in the medium version, compared to the Chinese prices for the Redmi K40.
There is no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is another capable phone. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Obviously, this is slowly but surely becoming the standard, and we rarely see 90 Hz on new models.
The resolution of Full HD + or 1080 x 2400 pixels is fully sufficient. However, OnePlus 9 should have a QHD + panel. The Exynos 990 processor, combined with 6 to 8 GB of RAM and 128 to 256 GB of internal storage, will suffice for the vast majority of users.
The predecessor of the OnePlus 8 Pro itself will be a competitor in itself. It is still an extremely successful device, which we would rank among the best in the world in terms of design, performance or even cameras. It is clear to us that the OnePlus 9 Pro will beat it in most respects, but after the price drops, in our opinion it will be a great buy ahead of the upcoming news labeled “9”.
The OnePlus 8 Pro has a large, 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and QHD + resolution, which is 1440 x 3168 pixels. There is one of the best Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile chipsets, 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 128 to 256 GB of user data storage. Finally, we will also mention very durable cameras of flagship qualities.
