Older Pixels get new camera features

If you have one of the older Pixels (Pixel 3 and newer) and so far you have envied the owners of Pixel 6 some features? It won’t stay like this for a long time – the change will be brought by the update of the Google Camera application to version 8.4. The message is provided by the PhoneArena portal.

However, the update will not bring all the features of the new Pixel 6 series. Features such as Motion Mode or Face Unblur will be missing. You also won’t see the much-mentioned Magic Eraser, which can easily delete entire objects (or people) from photos.

However, you can get this feature by manually installing Google Photos in version 5.64 (applies to Pixel owners). Older Pixels can still get this familiar feature. It turns out that you don’t need the latest special Google Tensor chip to get this feature on your device.

XDA mentions that you won’t get this feature on non-Pixel phones, even if you have Google Photos version 5.64. The XDA portal has managed to combine the Magic Eraser function on Pixel 4a.

Other features that will officially come to older Pixels are:

• Ability to view photos taken in low light through Night Sight, without the need to switch modes.
• New buttons to toggle between zoom levels (old options such as two-finger zoom or pressing and holding the zoom button will continue to work).
• Three new video stabilization modes (Locked when shooting something longer, Active for demanding and active scenes with lots of motion, Cinematic Pan for smooth movie transitions).
• Timer Light function – the flash will blink according to the shutter-release button. You must activate it via Application settings.
• The Settings icon in the Camera – Pixel 6 has it in the left corner of the screen, but older Pixels will have it in the middle.

If you own an older Pixel and are interested in the Google Camera app in version 8.4, you have two options. You can either download it from the Internet or wait for the official update from the Play Store. However, we recommend that you wait.
