Old classic becomes deadly machine

Old consoles often still work or can be restored and repaired. If not, keep them on the shelf as a reminder or even make something new out of them. For example, an NES owner turned his device into a combat robot.

NES by Bastler is pretty dangerous

Normally, consoles are harmless, but not the modified NES from the Australian manufacturer Electrosync, which advertises creating obscure and useful things. The use of turning a gaming device into a combat robot is debatable – but at least it was neat work put in.

The hobbyist combined his expertise in 3D printing and robotics to create the NESdestroyer. The gaming technology inside had to give way. Instead, the housing is now home to an extendable circular saw. While this one is brought to its knees by hard plastic, it can do things like Easily cut through watermelons or beer cans.

Incidentally, this doesn’t seem to be the end of it. Electrosync has indicated improvements are to come, describing the fruit and beer as purely “workout”.

Nintendo Switch: New model coming soon

The original NES was released on the European market in 1986, so it’s quite a few years old. The OLED model of the Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, has only been on the market since 2021. Despite the relatively short time, there are also special editions – but all of them do not require a circular saw. On April 28, 2023about two weeks before the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the TotK Edition appears.

This OLED switch is equipped with golden Joy-Cons and decorated with different patterns from the game. These also continue on the docking station – a real eye-catcher, but not exactly cheap. The normal price is 369.99 euros. You can get the console at MediaMarkt already a bit cheaper.
