Shortly after the start of the pandemic, Fitbit introduced the Charge 4. Later this year, which is now apparent from leaked press images, the successor in the form of the Fitbit Charge 5. A striking feature is the color screen; previous Fitbit Charge models had to make do with a black and white screen. The Charge 5 is expected to be released on October 23.

Earlier this summer, the first image of the alleged Fitbit Charge 5 appeared. Internally, the smartwatch would be developed under code name Morgan. In the first leaked image we saw a design that is very similar to the Fitbit Luxe, partly due to the placement of the screen in the housing. New images, from the highly trusted rumor maker Evan Blass, show the design of the upcoming Fitbit Charge 5 in full regalia.

Press images from Blass confirm previous suspicions that the Charge 5 is very similar to the Fitbit Luxe. After all, around the screen we find a (matte) housing in silver or gold. The matte housing continues around the screen. On both sides of the housing you will find the buttons of the Charge 5. Unlike the rest of the housing, the buttons are glossy. You can easily distinguish the buttons from the rest of the housing if possible.

Color screen from the Luxury

The screen of the Fitbit Charge 5 is also an element that has been taken over from the Luxe. The screen includes the time, date, heart rate and a graph. It is not immediately clear what the graph is for. Possibly the chart can be used to keep track of daily goals – for example for a specific amount of steps you would like to take. The fact that the screen can display this data is not so special and also not specifically equivalent to the Luxe. What is equal is that the Fitbit Charge 5 will now have a color screen – just like the color screen of the Luxe.

It is also known that the straps of the fitness tracker, just like on previous Fitbit watches, can be easily replaced. Which sensors the Charge contains to retrieve health information, remains unknown for the time being. This also applies to details about the battery life of the Fitbit Charge 5, which software the tracker contains and which sports modes are available.

Launch Fitbit Charge 5

Some official details about the Fitbit Charge 5 are still missing, as is the launch date. However, the date 23 October can be read on the watch. At the same time, while that may be a placeholder date, it’s quite possible that Fitbit will launch its Charge 5 on or around October 23. Presumably, the price of the Charge 5, like its predecessor, is around 150 euros. The shop will be able to choose from three color variations: black/black, green/silver and white/gold.
