Off for Telekom and Vodafone customers: popular offer scrapped

StreamOn from Telekom and the Vodafone passes are history. The popular zero-rating options may no longer be offered as of April 1st. Although Telekom and Vodafone have alternatives ready for customers, they leave a lot to be desired.

After the end of StreamOn: Telekom gives away data volume

Vodafone and Telekom customers who have used so-called zero-rating options have to do without the popular offers: Since April 1, 2023, StreamOn from Telekom and the Vodafone passes must have disappeared from the providers’ offerings. Customers who used these options will be compensated. But there is no money back.

Telekom gives former StreamOn customers unlimited data volume. According to the provider, it has been available since April 1, 2023 – and thus seamlessly at the end of StreamOn. If you want to accept the data gift, you can activate it via the MeinMagenta app or visit the Telekom website pass.telekom.de.

Sounds great, but this is a limited time offer only for 90 days from activation applies. After that, the data volume of the contract applies again. There will then no longer be any free data traffic for certain apps, nor will there be any extra GBs. Customers can activate the option until May 31, 2023, otherwise this one-time offer will also expire (source: Telekom).

Schaler replacement at Vodafone: Provider lets some customers continue to pay

Vodafone is taking a different approach: Anyone who has booked a Vodafone pass or included the option in their contract gets one permanent additional data volume from Vodafone. The provider has not disclosed how high the volume is. Affected customers should have already been informed by Vodafone via SMS. So if it concerns you, you should already know what your bonus data volume will be.

In the video we show what you should pay attention to when choosing a mobile phone tariff:

According to Vodafone, customers who had included one or more Vodafone passes as part of their contract get more data volume to compensate for the lost functions. But anyone who had booked one or more Vodafone passes for a fee will also asked to pay for the new data volume. As informed by Vodafone, the extra data volume, like the Vodafone pass before it, can be canceled at any time. To do this, you can reach Vodafone customer service by telephone on 0800 – 172 1212.

Both Vodafone and Telekom do not offer any alternative zero-rating options if you switch to a different tariff. If you want to sign a new contract, you should include that in your comparison.
