o2 celebrates its cell phone network – the reason is questionable
The network test season has started, the big three of the mobile world are back in Germany. Telefónica/o2 celebrates its own network in the highest tones. But you can’t leave it like that.
Cellular test: o2 significantly improved, but still last place
Telekom, Vodafone and o2 have competed against each other in several tests these days. The goal: to find the best mobile network in Germany. Of the winner is clearly established. It is the telecom, followed by Vodafone and Telefónica with its o2 brand in third – and last – place. This is the result of the mobile phone test by Connect magazine. The colleagues from Chip also confirm this order in their test.
So what does the runner-up have to celebrate if not victory? That according to his own statement “best o2 network of all time”, as the connect test showed (source: o2). There, 894 out of a total of 1,000 possible points are distributed to the network operator based in Munich. In front are Vodafone with 915 points, test winner Telekom has 952 points.
o2 is not lagging behind, but it is clearly in last place. However, a certain degree of success cannot be dismissed out of hand: With an increase of 20 points compared to the previous year, o2 achieved the largest increase among the three network operators.
Choosing the o2 network is not a mistake in itself, but here are 5 things to watch out for:
Telekom brings Vodafone and o2 ever closer together
On the one hand, the test results confirm that o2 has improved. But their network is still inferior to the competition. There is yet another reason why the party mood seems exaggerated: with the marketing slogan of the “best network of all time”. you missed an own goal. Strictly speaking, this announcement also includes the future, so o2 would issue a “It won’t get any better” to itself.
Apart from this error, o2 can improve significantly, especially in the test category data. When it comes to the most important feature of modern mobile phone networks, the use of the Internet, the people of Munich are increasingly competitive. In the language category, only one point is missing before o2 and Vodafone could catch up in the future.
